What to do when what you do becomes a grind

I left corporate to chase my dreams and I am doing exactly that. Why is it then that lately, I find myself sighing deeply during the day?

It took me a few days to notice that the dream was becoming a grind. I was shocked. When did that happen? How did that happen?

I spent some time thinking about what had happened over the past few weeks and realized I was pushing too hard. Working long hours, saying YES to every new opportunity, taking on more, more MORE! Afternoons were spent huddled over my laptop instead of chasing butterflies in the garden with our daughters. Late nights attending endless events – networking, speaking, training.

Interesting that EVEN when doing what you love, it can feel heavy and tiresome when you don’t leave space for fun, space for YOU.

When you find yourself feeling overwhelmed and dragging your sorry, sighing little ass(et) through the day, go back to gratitude. Write down 10 things you are grateful for. Take a break, go walk barefoot on the grass. Hug a tree. Breathe. Take a nap.

You don’t have to do everything this red hot minute. Prioritise the tasks you ABSOLUTELY have to do today and let the rest wait.

Now if you’ll excuse me, a butterfly just flew past my window…
